State of Women Veterans: VA women’s
health care more proactive in some areas of care than private sector
When Kayla Williams left active duty in
2005 and walked into a VA Medical Center for the first time, she wasn’t
sure she belonged. She saw few other women, and it didn’t feel terribly
welcoming. For the next decade or so, she stuck with private sector
providers covered by insurance. Last year, she came back into the VA
system – and is incredibly glad.
Blake served in the Marine Corps from
2006 to 2011. His primary MOS was 5831 Corrections. He served one and a
half years in Quantico, Virginia with Security Battalion aboard the
Quantico Base Brig.
