WASHINGTON, April 29, 2011 - Combined forces yesterday detained several suspected insurgents, including a Taliban leader, in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, military officials reported.
Security forces in the Zharay district of Aghansitan's Kandahar province captured the Taliban leader and several of his associates. The suspects are allegedly responsible for trafficking weapons and other supplies for insurgent operations in the area, officials said.
Also yesterday, in Balkh province's Chahar district, troops detained two suspected insurgents, while searching for a Taliban bomb expert and weapons trafficker.
