U.S. honors Veterans on first official National Vietnam War Veterans Day

On March 29, 1973, the last American combat troops left Vietnam and returned home. VA recognized March 29 with wreath-laying ceremonies at national cemeteries and other facilities across the country.

Thanks to his participation in BrainGate2, Navy Veteran Bill Kochevar can use his right arm to make meaningful movements like scratching his nose, drinking coffee and even feeding himself mashed potatoes.

Twenty five Medal of Honor recipients gathered in the Oval Office to be honored by the president, vice president, secretary of defense and VA secretary, Dr. David Shulkin.

This week we honor Marine Corps Veteran Harvey C. “Barney” Barnum Jr.

Barney served two combat tours in Vietnam, the second after he had already been awarded his Nation’s highest award for military valor. Two weeks into his first tour in Vietnam, would earn him the Medal of Honor.
