Veterans ‘TEE’ up for 25th anniversary golf tournament

More than 200 Veterans with visual impairments, severe illness or injury are set to tee up for the 2018 National Disabled Veterans Training, Exposure and Experience (TEE) Tournament, which will take place Sept. 9-14 near Iowa City, Iowa.

Rear Adm. Alene B. Duerk had a long military career and was a trailblazer for women in the Navy.  She is a Veteran of World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War.  In 1972, she became the Navy’s first female admiral.

Artificial lung

Researchers strive to make 3D-printed artificial lung to help Vets with respiratory disease

VA scientists are working to create a 3D-printed artificial lung that they tout as having the potential to revolutionize the treatment of Veterans affected by lung disease. One such lung disorder—chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)—is one of the most prevalent and costliest ailments in the Veteran population.

This week we honor Marine Veteran Private 1st Class Pete Card.

Pete Card joined the United States Marine Corps in 1956. He completed his basic training at Camp Pendleton and served two years at Twenty-nine Palms Marine Corps Base.
