WASHINGTON, Sept. 8, 2011 - A combined Afghan and coalition security force detained several suspected insurgents and wounded one yesterday while searching for a Taliban leader in Nangarhar province, Afghanistan.

The wanted man issuspected ofsupplying weapons and planning attacks against Afghan forces in the Jalalabad district.

One of the suspected insurgents was shot during the operation. After receiving medical treatment for his wounds, which were not life threatening, he was detained by security forces for further questioning.

In other International Security Assistance Force news from Afghanistan yesterday:

- A combined Afghan and coalition security force detained two suspected insurgents and seized bomb-making materials while searching for a Taliban leader in the Kunduz district of Kunduz province.

- In the Arghandab district of Kandahar province, a combined security force detained multiple suspected insurgents while searching for a Taliban leader responsible for planning and executing roadside bomb attacks against Afghan forces.

- A combined force detained several suspected insurgents and seized bomb-making materials while searching for a Taliban leader in the Nad 'Ali district of Helmand province. The leader is a roadside bomb expert who conducts attacks against Afghan forces and supplies lethal aid to Taliban fighters.

- A combined force detained a Haqqani Network leader and a suspected insurgent in the Khost district of Khost province. The leader coordinated indirect fire attacks against coalition forces, and transported roadside bombs and rockets.
