Among the 555 members of Team USA at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio
de Janerio, Brazil, are 16 U.S. Servicemembers. The athletes represent
the Army, Navy and Air Force competing in events ranging from rowing,
to track and field, to shooting.
Soldier, Marine and Baton Rouge police officer laid to
rest at VA national cemetery
It was another steamy morning in the
south when Louisiana National Cemetery Director Maurice Roan and his
seven-member crew set out to prepare for four services scheduled July
22. The motorcade arrived just 20 minutes
after the previous outgoing services. With it came more than 1,000
supporters of fallen Baton Rouge Police Officer Matthew Gerald, who
served in both the Army and the Marine Corps.
VA’s Million Veteran Program (MVP) has
reached an important milestone when an Army Veteran from Montgomery,
Alabama, became the 500,000th to voluntarily enroll in the research
database program – making MVP the largest genomic database in the
world.
Karen joined the Navy in 1994. She
served 2 years onboard the USS Fort McHenry as diesel engine technician
before transferring to Fleet Industrial Supply Center Yokosuka,
Detachment Sasebo.
