Army Veteran finds confidant at VA Vet Center

A couple years following his active duty service, Nick Tieman realized he needed to see a counselor. The Army Veteran started by seeing a counselor at his university. The person there recommended that he see someone at the Vet Center in Washington, D.C.

That’s when he found his confidant.

Partners don’t rest until Veterans’ houses feel like home

When once-homeless Army Veteran Tyrone Bradley moved into his Columbia, South Carolina, apartment in the fall of 2015, he slept on an air mattress. That sure beat spending the night on a cot in a crowded transitional living facility, and so he made do. A regular mattress for his bedroom was an expense he couldn’t yet afford.

Modernizing VA? “Absolutely, yes” says VA Secretary

Secretary Bob McDonald spoke at the Brookings Institute on Monday. The question headlining the event was “Can the Department of Veterans Affairs be modernized?”  McDonald’s first comment was “Absolutely, yes.”
