Air Force Veteran looks to inspire others as wheelchair basketball official

Steve Doudt is a full-time official and travels the country for the National Wheelchair Basketball Association. He is in 18th season as a basketball official and his second at the National Veterans Wheelchair Games.

Veterans Legacy Program: Lt. Col. Robert Joseph Andrews, long serving pilot and Veteran of three wars

Lt. Col. Robert Joseph Andrews served as a pilot in the Air Force for over 31 years.  He flew numerous aircraft and served in World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War. Andrews grew up in Royal Oak, Michigan just outside of Detroit. During his teenage years, a neighborhood friend who had joined the military visited on leave during World War II.  This friend inspired Andrews, and he quickly realized that he wanted to become a pilot.

Google volunteers and Veterans meet at Palo Alto VA to improve job seeking skills

More than 40 Veterans attended a unique event in June as a large team of recruiters from Google descended upon the VA Palo Alto’s Menlo Park campus to help share their knowledge and train Veterans in critical job seeking skills.

 VETERAN OF THE WEEK

This week we honor Air Force and Coast Guard Veteran Art Sloane.

When Art was in high school, he enlisted in the Air National Guard. Once he turned 18 in 1954, he entered the Air Force. He stayed until 1961, returning to the Guard for five more years.
